Support for Erotically Marginalised Communities

At SHIPS, we offer affirming psychological care for people whose sexualities, practices, or identities are often stigmatised or misunderstood.

We recognise the harm caused by pathologising or judgmental approaches — and we are committed to creating a space where you are seen, respected, and supported, exactly as you are.

Sometimes, you might be seeking support for issues unrelated to your sexual or relationship life, but still want to know that your practitioner is safe — that you won’t have to leave any part of yourself at the door. At other times, your experiences as an erotically marginalised person may be central to the challenges you're facing.

Our society is not always set up to be safe or affirming — and being part of a marginalised community can come with trauma, chronic stress, and structural barriers. We are here to stand with you as you navigate these realities, and to walk alongside you with care, skill, and solidarity.

Some erotically marginalised communities we support include:

  • People who practise kink and BDSM

  • People in non-monogamous relationship structures

  • Sex workers, including full-service, online, and erotic content creators

  • Members of the LGBTIQA+ community

Our therapists bring not only clinical expertise, but also a deep commitment to social justice, sexual liberation, and community-informed care. Many have undergone specialist training and ongoing supervision in this area, and some bring lived experience to their work.

Whether you are navigating stigma, exploring identity, healing from trauma, or seeking support for relationships and sexual wellbeing — we are here to support you, without judgement and with genuine respect.
