Michelle is a Counselling Psychologist and Board-approved supervisor who brings more than 10 years of experience to her practice. She values the importance of building a nurturing and collaborative therapeutic relationship within which clients can share their vulnerabilities and work towards transformational self-understanding and growth. She is also passionate about helping people find safety and connection back to the wisdom of the body. Learning to cultivate an embodied awareness supports us in responding adaptively and with compassion to challenging experiences, including trauma and pain.
Michelle draws from a variety of therapeutic modalities including Schema therapy (ST), EMDR, Sensate therapy, Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Self-compassion and Psychodynamic psychotherapy. She has experience working with PTSD and trauma (including attachment, sexual and developmental trauma), persistent pain and sexual health issues such as dyspareunia, sexual anxiety and desire difficulties. She is experienced in supporting the LGBTIQA+ community, including providing gender affirming support, she is also sex positive and supportive of diverse intimacy and relational structures and practices.
Michelle is committed to ongoing professional development and the importance of increasing public awareness and education of sexual health through writing SHIPS blog and journal articles. Some areas of interest include embodiment and interoception, self-compassion, sexual pain and trauma.
Michelle is sometimes supported in her work by Pepe, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and trained animal assisted therapy dog.
